Hsi Lai Scouts: Troop 8888
Hsi Lai Boy Scouts, also known as "BSA Troop 8888", is a troop situated at Hacienda Heights in California, belonging to the El Camino Real District, Greater Los Angeles Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. Chartered at Hsi Lai Temple in 2000, it was founded on the principle of nurturing the spirit of self-management in children and further developing their teamwork cooperation and leadership skills.
Hsi Lai Boy Scouts aims to practice the teachings of Venerable Master Hsing Yun's "Three Acts of Goodness": Do Good Deeds, Speak Good Words, Think Good Thoughts, and become a practicing Bodhisattva in the human realm. We hope to provide an effective program designed to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of acquiring desirable qualities in character, to train them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship and to encourage the development of their leadership skills.
Humanistic Buddhism promotes education of everyday skills and moral conducts, Hsi Lai Scouts abide by these teachings. Through practicing the Three Acts of Goodness, let us lead our children into a better and brighter future.
All boys and girls from the age of 5 to 17 years old are welcome!
