Buddha’s Light International Association
Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) propagates Humanistic Buddhism, and is committed to equality, respect for others, and social progress. BLIA’s initiatives, campaigns and programs seek to address modern economic, social, and environmental challenges.
Founded by Venerable Master Hsing Yun in 1992 with the belief that Humanistic Buddhism is a driving force for social good, BLIA works globally for concerted, positive action in the twenty-first century. It supports local communities in making a difference and encourages collective action to scale solutions to benefit the environment and future generations. BLIA provides services to anyone regardless of gender, race, or religious beliefs.
Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) is an international organization composed of monastic and laypeople, and was granted the Nongovernmental Organization (NGO) association status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and Department of Public Information (DPI) in 2003.
BLIA is headquartered in Hacienda Heights, California, and has 200 chapters in over 70 countries and regions.
